I'm pulled towards the chtonic spheres
Belonging to the guide of souls:
The psychopomp

I saw the fields with olive trees
The sands of vertile red
A funerary cart that was
Led forth by sorrow

No longer "I," for I was Vanth now:
Omnipresent and all-seeing
A companion to Charun
Who guards the door to Hades

Eyes migrated to my wings
They flew towards the task to testify
And watching with bearded snakes
Entwined around those arms

I have seen slaughter and sacrifice,
I have seen massacre and murder,
And I can see the inevitable,
The omnipresent and the lifeless

My torch lights up the darkest corridors
My scroll contains grim destinies
My key gives passage to the door of doors
My sword the voice of a shaman

I was at the sacrifice of Trojan captives
On the grave of Patroclus
Where Achilles' sword spoke most gruesomely
While the sons of Oileous and Telamon beheld

Hate for every day grieved,
Death for every tear shed
Twelve days twelve heads
Eyes cold as bodies

For fear of mortality he became death incarnate
Woe to his captives (but my heart is big)
I awaited them as they turned into vacant shells
Set free for good by Myrmidonian wrath

I wield the sword of the benevolent
Though Charun may be cruel
To anyone undeserving of passage
As his warden hammer judges swiftly
